Garlic Harvest~

I am not sure what it is about the garlic harvest that brings me so much deep down glee. This might be my favorite thing to harvest, if there could be such a thing. Perhaps it's the time that it takes a clove placed in the Autumn ground to mature into a complete bulb, 10 whole months. Sometimes it's the waiting that makes the goal that much more glorious. Or maybe it's in my blood, an ancestral inheritance from my Eastern European roots, perhaps this is a cellular love. Whatever it is, it is as strong and healthy as the garlic itself.

Garlic is my food and medicine, and it has been this way for as long as I can remember. There is no soup or stew complete without it, no better way to cure a cold or keep the flu away, of course you also run the risk of keeping others away too, but sometimes that's not so bad. Tis hard to tell, who's a vampire and who isn't sometimes. eh eh eh.

Otherwise these days have been spent far away from keyboards and indoor activities. There is an inch of dust covering everything in the house. There are 100 tasks needing doing, but I simply cannot give myself to them. The moment I am out of bed in the morning, I am outside, barefoot in the garden, as busy as the bees.

Good to see the bees are thriving, and your garden as well.

I lived on an organic farm for a while a few ears ago. It was such a satisfying feeling popping out to the garden to dig up some garlic, the into the poly tunnel to collect vegetables for that evenings meal. So rewarding.

"...I am outside barefoot in the garden as busy as the bees". You are summer and plenty and sunshine and happiness together! What a wonderful entry.

Have you roasted whole bulbs of garlic and then squeezed out the fragrant cloves onto toasted bread? Divine.

Your garden looks so fruitful.

Yes, I'm a garlic lover as well. It ranks right up there with pomegranates which aren't nearly as versatile but one of nature's treasures as well. They both speak to me....

While finishing a little whole wheat pasta with only olive oil, fresh minced garlic and feta cheese., followed with a hot green tea toddy (from my own Camilla Sinensis) with honey.. (I’m fighting a head cold) it occurred to me what a great combo... garlic and honey together. This became a search that led me to your site. I am amazed by you with your bees and no bee keeper suit ! ! How do you do that? I have a beekeeper friend and the whole beekeeper white suit thing seems so cold and alien. I have always wanted to have bees, but the suit is probably the biggest deterrant for me.
